Description

Special thanks to the folks at Insight Observatory for outstanding data!
purchased data
Sublime Skies LLC    Starbase

Ha7 46 exposures, 300 Seconds each
OIII  35 exposures, 300 Seconds each

Optics  AFIL-9
Format FITS
Integration time 6h 45m 0s
Exposures 81
Dates  2022-12-17   2023-01-31

The source is from two precalibrated fits files.  The data was captured with Ha7 and OIII filters.

My processing steps in general:
Deep Sky Stacker - two fits files, register then stack - tiff output
Open  both tiff files in Pixinsight - perform ABE using division on each - crop the images
Pull the stars using starXterminator, stretch the stars in PS creating two linear images Ha7 and OIII
Back into Pixinsight to use script, EZ processing suite, and Soft Stretch on each of these two nebula-only images.

Combine the stars only images Ha7 and OIII using channel combination, HOO I.E. Ha7 to red, OIII to both green and blue to get stars in color
Combine the nebula only Ha7 and OIII using channel combination, HOO process same as above to produce the first color image of nebula only

Open this nebula only image in PS and perform selective color with Cyan in yellow reduced to left and magenta increased to right which brings out the blue head

use camera raw filter in PS to dehaze and clarify
use Topaz noise reduction
Final level adjustment for contrast depth

save file in PS then open in Pixinsight

In Pixinsight, combine color stars only with color nebula only using pixel math, and do final crop in Pixinsight!

Looks good
